HeatWork launched its new machine, HeatWork HydroHeater, during Winter Festival Week 2012.HydroHeater is a 103 kW mobile distance heating unit that delivers hot water at up to 100 degrees Celsius through a heat exchanger.

The concept and HydroHeater are directed towards the distance heating sector, builders, developers and others who have a need for water heating.

Some examples of areas of use
• Supply of energy to buildings and institutions where distance heating plant has to be temporarily disconnected for repairs.
• Hot lagging of distance heating pipes
• Running under-floor heating, for example during the building phase before a permanent energy source is established
• Delivery of hot water for consumption

Statkraft Varme has already bought a HydroHeater that will be used when laying pipes and for temporary heating during repairs and other shutdowns. Tekniska Verken in Linkjøping has used HeatWork machines in their large distance heating systems for many years, with great success.

HeatWork envisages a significant market for HydroHeater.

The challenge of concrete work in difficult climates has now been resolved by HeatWork. The new method ensures that projects can proceed as planned, and has revolutionized the curing process for building projects year-round.

HeatWork has made working with concrete in challenging climates easier. A new solution guarantees documented quality for both the principal and the contractor. The method ensures that projects can proceed as planned, and has revolutionized the curing process for building projects year-round.

Tested by major contractors HeatWork has worked with major contractors, such as Peab, Svevia and Bilfinger Berger, as well as several contractors working with wind power. Our new method has been tested and implemented in various concrete projects in Sweden. Experiences have been good throughout and the feedback is nothing but positive. The new method is described as a success. Norwegian contractors have also implemented the method for the same purpose. HeatWork can see exciting and new areas of applications for the concept.

Effective method
HeatWork technology is used as a source of energy and as a control tool before, during and after pouring. The concept has proven to be very effective in terms of preheating, removing ice and snow and heating formwork. In addition to showing the exact temperature of the concrete, thus offering complete control over the curing process throuh the HW pipes cast into the concrete, the system also allows the contractor complete control over the quality. In every operation, the temperature and energy can be set seamlessly between 0 and 1000 ˚C, or preset temperature sensors can be attached to control the process automatically. With HeatWork on site, it means you have full control of the preheating, pouring and curing processes. The same system and methods can also easily be adapted to provide cooling for concrete structures instead of heating.

Scandinavian revolution
This concept is brand new in Scandinavia and the method has been described as revolutionizing and innovative. Svevia and Peab have implemented the system and method for use in concrete floor slabs and bridge construction. HeatWork has also been used in concrete foundations for windmill projects, and the results have been very good. With every increasing demands for documented quality and demands for progression in projects regardless of season, HeatWork is a key tool for contractors and principals in the future. These new areas of application turns HeatWork into a multipurpose concept, which can benefit various builders in both the private and public sectors.

HeatWork goes for innovation
HeatWork AS develops and produces heating and thawing concepts for the European market. The factory is located in Narvik, and production began in 2005. Turnover increased from NOK 46 million in 2010 to NOK 56 million in 2011. We expect the growth to continue in a controlled manner, and the company is currently moving into new markets and areas of application with their machines and solutions.

Thanks to the monitoring function in Trackunit Pro, you can be notified when it is time to service your machine.

Thanks to the monitoring function in Trackunit Pro, you can be notified when it is time to service your machine. Trackunit Pro provides machine owners, contractors and rental agencies with a quick and easy overview of their machine’s position and operating status.

The machines are fitted with a hidden GSM/GPS unit that collects operating information and transmits this data to a server. The user can then go online and access this data from the machine.

• Theft protection
• Monitoring operating times, schedule maintenance
• Monitor operating times for the entire fleet of machines in one place
• Accurate invoicing information for machine rental and other tasks
• GPS location of machines
• Recovering machines that have been stolen through satellite monitoring
• Simpler daily administration of the machine fleet
• Reduced risk of downtimes and machine overload
• Automatic service notification
• Automatic notification of annual safety check
• Potensial for reduced insurance premiums

Quick and easy, yet comprehensive, monitoring
Get the locations of all your machines and get information about their status. By pointing to a specific machine, you can see its location (address), total operating time, and hours of operation left until its next service. Limit the number of machines on you screen by categorizing them into groups.

Service support
Monitoring operating times for an entire fleet of machines is easy, and so is programming service intervals. For example, you can choose to receive an e-mail 10 hours before the machine is scheduled for service. This makes it easier for you to plan the service and maintenance of your machines. You can also choose to attach a service manual to each machine. All these advantages will reduce the risk of downtimes, in addition to ensuring a better resale value for the machines.

Reports
Trackunit Pro allows you to extract all types of reports you could ever imagine. For example, you can extract an activity report, graphically detailing how many hours and when your machines have been in operation. If you want to know whether your machines have been operating over the weekend, you can opt to receive an e-mail every Monday morning, detailing how many hours your machines have been operating during the weekend.

One system for all of Europe
Both the tracking units and the Trackunit Pro system can be used throughout Europe, and even the rest of the world, provided there is mobile phone service where the machine or vehicle is located. The system is delivered with worldwide maps, complete with a zoom function down to invididual houses, as well as with satellite photographs. Users can define and present his own locations and areas on the map, such as the customer’s location, one’s own departments, etc.

This fall, HeatWork delievered several HW FrostHeater machines to Eastern Russia.

This fall, HeatWork delivered several HW FrostHeater machines to Eastern Russia.
This was the company’s first official delivery directly to Russia. The HeatWork machines will be used in the construction of concrete platforms near the Russian border with Korea, near Vladivostok.

Magnus Sjurssen from Kværner (left) and Tommy Larsen from HeatWork have faith in HeatWork being a good tool for working on concrete platforms during Russian winters.

The machines are airfreighted to South Korea, and shipped by boat from there to Russia. HeatWork views this as the beginning of a new and exciting development, not only geographically, but also in terms of new areas of application.

Kværner is in charge of constructing the platform at the shipyard in Nahotsk, near Vladivostok. The shipyard itself is Russian, but tailored to concrete platforms by Kværner.
HeatWork machines will be used to ensure work continues through the winter by preventing the water in the concrete columns from freezing. Temperatures may creep as low as -30 ˚C, and the strong Siberian winds coming in make the task extra challenging.

- We believe HeatWork is the solution to the problems we have been having with ice in the production of the concrete columns. The conditions are very cold, but HeatWork’s strength is to overcome these difficult conditions, says Magnus Sjurssen fra Kværner.

Enormous dimensions. HeatWork will ensure work can continue by preventing the water in these concrete columns from freezing, a total of approx. 40.000 m3

- It is definitely exciting for us to be able to deliver machines for such large-scale and important projects. This is also a vote of confidence from Kværner, who have seen the value of what we do and take advantage of our expertise. This speaks to our good reputation and the fact that we have a product that can satisfy even the most stringent of demands in this sector, says Børre Simonsen, CEO of HeatWork.
- It will be quite exciting to follow this project in the time to come and gain valuable experience from new sectors.

HeatWork is qualified for deliveries to the petroleum industry through Achilles.

HeatWork is well established in the market, and increased its turnover from NOK 24 million in 2009 to NOK 47 million in 2010. The company will continue to expand at a controlled rate, and the company is currently moving its machines and solutions into new markets and areas of application, says owner and chairman of the board, Almar Markussen.

The HeatWork factory is located in Narvik, and the company develops, manufactures and tests its machines in the harshest winter conditions, above the Arctic Circle in Norway. – Having access to expertise and knowledge of Arctic conditions, with the ice, cold temperatures and frost, is essential to developing high quality products and meeting our customers’ demands, Markussen explains.
HeatWork plays a key role in Narvik’s technological community, where the central strategic area is technology in Arctic conditions.
